Eclipse Black Ink Recall

May 13, 2026

🚨 Update 05/18/26 — only batch « 2D250021 133 » (expiration date 03/31/2028) is affected. See the official Rappel Conso notice

Eclipse Black Sterile Ink is being recalled across France. According to the official RappelConso record, all batches are affected, in both 150 ml and 260 ml sizes, with a reported sale period from 01/15/2022 to 04/30/2026.

Reason for the recall: formaldehyde content exceeds the allowed thresholds. The identified risk is chemical. The official guidance is to stop using the product, return it to the point of sale, or dispose of it.

If you were recently tattooed with this ink: don't panic, but keep an eye on the healing process. If you experience persistent redness, unusual pain, swelling, significant itching, discharge, localized heat, fever, or any unusual reaction, seek medical advice.

For tattoo artists: stop using the affected product, set aside any remaining bottles, follow the recall procedure, and inform affected clients clearly and calmly.

A quick reminder: since January 2022, tattoo inks have been regulated under the European REACH framework, which restricts thousands of substances in inks and permanent makeup. The goal is to make products safer — not to ban tattooing.

In practice, many tattoo artists have also noticed that some REACH-compliant inks don't perform as well as before, especially with certain colors: less intense results, harder-to-work shades, and reformulated or discontinued ranges. That doesn't mean they're "bad" — it means regulation has shifted the market and changed workflows.

Bottom line: stay vigilant, stay transparent, don't panic.

If you have any concerns about a recent tattoo, reach out to your artist and seek medical advice if the healing seems off.
